Friday Funny

This week’s funny is from a vintage cookbook in our collection, Meals for Small Families.

“Meals for Small Families is intended for the woman who does her cooking in a kitchenette.”

Meals for Small Families, written by Jean Mowat and published by Laidlaw Brothers in 1929 is a glimpse back to another era where the number of home cooks was increasing while the size of their kitchens and families were not. The book states its recipes are ‘quick and easy’ and geared towards ‘small quantities’ – a familiar tune even in today’s world. There are several great recipes throughout the book, in particular unique beverages, cakes, desserts and sauces.

P.S. I know, you wouldn't guess I'm in my mid-thirties.
