Food Bite:

"Sham Harga had run a succesful eatery for many years by always smiling, never extending credit, and realizing that most of his customers wanted meals properly balanced between the four food groups: sugar, starch, grease, and burnt crunchy bits." - Terry Pratchett, Men at Arms

Food Bite:

“We are indeed much more than what we eat, but what we eat can
nevertheless help us to be much more than what we are.”
- Adelle Davis

A few years ago a copy of the 1947 cookbook, Let's Cook It Right made it into my collection of vintage cookbooks after a day of antique shopping. The author, Adelle Davis, was ahead of her time as her book addresses many contemporary food issues we are dealing with today: using more whole, unprocessed foods, omitting food additives from our diets, and learning more about how various nutrients help us prevent disease and obtain optimum health.

Used copies of Let's Cook It Right : Good Health Comes from Good Cooking are available on Amazon.com. The hardback, pictured here, is 626 pages and was published by Harcourt, Brace and Company. A newer, revised addition was published in paperback in 1988.
